American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE)
ACEEE is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing energy efficiency as a means of promoting prosperity and protecting the environment; it also publishes ACEEE's Green Book: The Environmental Guide to Cars and Trucks, a comprehensive consumer guide that ranks vehicles according to environmental friendliness.


Ecology Center
The Ecology Center is a grassroots environmental organization which works for clean air and water, healthy communities, and environmental justice. The Auto Project of the Ecology Center works to address toxic and health issues related to the production of automobiles and promotes cleaner vehicle technologies.


Environmental Defense
Environmental Defense is a leading national, NY-based nonprofit organization that represents 300,000 members. Environmental Defense links science, economics and law to create innovative, equitable and economically viable solutions to today's environmental problems. Environmental Defense's Pollution Prevention Alliance (PPA) unites Environmental Defense and nearly 250 local, state, regional, and tribal organizations to promote pollution prevention and sustainable communities in the Great Lakes region. PPA has created a web-based resource - GreenCar - which examines the life-cycle impacts of vehicles. This site is an excellent source of information on 1) vehicle manufacturing processes and available pollution prevention options, 2) consumer behavior and tips to reduce driving impacts and 3) end-of-life management and disposal issues.

Great Lakes United is an international coalition dedicated to preserving and protecting the Great Lakes - St. Lawrence River ecosystem. Great Lakes United develops and promotes effective policy initiatives, carries out education programs and promotes citizen action and grassroots leadership to asssure:



Michigan Environmental Council
The state-wide environmental group acts as the collective voice of the Michigan's leading environmental groups on protection and conservation of our world-class natural resources and quality of life. Coordinating education, information, and communications efforts on the most critical statewide policy issues, MEC seeks to insure that decisionmakers protect the short-term and long-term health and prosperity of Michigan through principled actions.

 

Union of Concerned Scientists
The Union of Concerned Scientists is a national, non-profit organization that works to improve the environment in ways that preserve our health, protect our safety, and enhance the qualify of life in our communities. UCS works to promote clean energy and transportation, reduced global warming emissions, sustainable agricultural, arms control, and protection of biological diversity. UCS has 60,000 members, with offices in Massachusetts, Washington, DC and California.
